Our Approach

How Our Testing Works

Virtual Intake

The process begins with meeting a clinician to discuss background, medical, developmental, and educational history, symptoms and their severity, major life events, and family make up to better understand your unique case.

Children complete a Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Fifth Edition (WISC-V) which measures a child’s intellectual ability and the 5 cognitive domains that impact performance for children (Verbal Comprehension, Visual Spatial, Fluid Reasoning, Working Memory and Processing Speed).

Adults complete a Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV) which is the most advanced measure of cognitive ability that looks at the 4 domains that impact performance for adults (Verbal Comprehension, Perceptual Reasoning, Working Memory and Processing Speed).

We will walk you through the full report in a dedicated feedback session, ensuring you leave with a thorough understanding of every finding and the confidence to take the next steps. You will not leave with a stack of papers and unanswered questions. You will leave with clarity and a plan. Your report is sent a few weeks after the virtual debrief session

$1750 (price subject to change depending on the amount of questionnaires or additional assessments requested). Please note this is an example assessment plan and your assessment plan can only be finalized after your first meeting with a clinical psychologist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Intelligence testing focuses specifically on measuring cognitive ability across multiple domains, providing a detailed picture of how the brain processes and uses information. A psychoeducational assessment is broader in scope and includes intelligence testing alongside evaluations of academic achievement, attention, executive functioning, and social emotional factors. For families seeking gifted identification or a focused cognitive profile, intelligence testing alone may be appropriate. For a more comprehensive understanding of learning and academic functioning, a full psychoeducational assessment is typically recommended.

We use gold standard, widely recognized cognitive assessments that are selected based on your child’s age and the specific questions the assessment is intended to answer. Adults complete the WAIS-IV and children complete the WISC-V

The assessment session itself typically takes between one and two hours depending on your child’s age and the scope of the evaluation. Additional time is required for scoring, interpretation, report writing, and the feedback session. We will provide you with a clear timeline at the outset so you know what to expect at every stage of the process.

Yes. A formally administered and scored intelligence assessment conducted by a registered psychologist or psychological associate is typically the assessment required by schools and school boards for gifted program identification and placement. Our reports are written with this purpose in mind and include all the documentation schools need to make informed placement decisions.
